Classes are back in session, but it is quiet on this winter day. 

Time Capsule at Virginia Tech

 The University gathered memories and created a time capsule about the 150 years. 

Commencement

 There have been commencement ceremonies almost every day this week.  Today was the official university ceremony.  Parties everywhere.

Snow has melted....but the forecast

 Forecast is for snow tonight.  Normal winter weather

Alwood Oak on the Drillfield

 The Alwood Oak is one of the oldest trees on campus.  It was a small tree by Burruss Hall.

 Drillfield is the site of many activities at Virginia Tech.

 Mid-day, the drillfield is quiet.  Later, there will probably be games and people enjoying the beautiful weather.

Gobblerfest

Many student organizations as well as community groups invite students to learn about what is available to them at the Gobblerfest.

Gobblerfest for students

An event to help students know what is available to them in the community is called Gobblerfest. Local businesses as well as all the student groups offer information.

Virginia Tech cadets start the year

New members of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets have been in town for a week and today they paraded on the Drillfield to show what they have become in that week.  University administrators and many visitors watched the review.

Anniversary of Virginia Tech Tragedy

April 16 is a special day in Blacksburg.

Stage on drillfield

A large stage was built on the drillfield today.  It is for the Victoria’s Secret Pink Nation Tailgate Party: Pink Takes Tech  a concert featuring Gym Class Heroes and Chiddy Bang. The event is  because of a competition won by Virginia Tech in the spring.

Alwood Oak

This historic tree is well taken care of and admired.  It grows on the Virginia Tech drillfield.
