Blacksburg is booming for a football game.  Today this television crew, with ESPN on their sign, was interviewing customers at Lefty's.

A former school building is still next to active sports facilites including a track and baseball field.

Baseball at Salem

Fans need protection from pop-up flies, so my seat at the Salem Red Sox game was behind the screen.  The "first pitch" was by a wrestler.

It must be spring, baseball season started at English Field at Virginia Tech

Mariners in the rain

Appalachian League baseball team, Pulaski Mariners has had a lot of rainy weather this season. The tarp was still covering the field when I went home. The game was canceled later.

First round of the NIT

Virginia Tech's men's basketball team beat Duquesne 116-108 after two overtimes at Cassell Colsieum. Tech will host the second round Saturday.

Bill Brown Stadium

School sports have been played here for many years but these sports may be moved to another site.
