Musicians, singers, actors and all from the Summer Musical Enterprise production of "Pajama Game" performed music from the show as part of the Henderson Lawn concerts.

The historic tree was taken down today. I thought I heard the person working the crane say that the last piece weighed 8100.

Pita Vera restaurant

Businesses change throughout the downtown. This restaurant has a new name; menu seems about the same as when it was named the Mediteranian.

Steps on Side of house

The set of steps on the side of this home in the historic district seems to provide an outside entrance to the second floor.

Church of the Bretheran

The worship building seems nestled behind the rolling hills, sheltering it from Prices Fork Road.

Changes in extra Main St.

Main Street Improvements

Changes to the Main St. are happening. This is the corner of Main St., College Ave., and the extra little Main St.

Building on Main St.

This building has not seemed to change for a long time. Was it a home? apartment? storefront?

Berryfield

One of the places where the streams are still visible above ground is at the corner of Wharton and Clay streets. The area is called Berryfield.

Church of God

Seems a classic style for what may have been the worship area for this faith community.

It isn't crowded on the course.

A restaurant on Main St. is in a historic building.

High School Track

Blacksburg High School track is used often.

This sign was by a home on E. Roanoke St. Of course, I had to Look.

Historic home

Plans have been made to restore this house as a restaurant. The new fence makes it seem that work should be starting soon.

Memories, memories

The Downtown Merchants organization has organized a promotion for the annual festival. There are signs in many of the businesses that remind us long-term residents of what was in the building the year the festival was first called Steppin'Out.

House on Clay St.

Clay St. is on the edge of the historic district. It continues across Blacksburg on both sides of Main St.

Summer Arts Festival, Celtibillies

The Friday night Concert by the Celtibillies was moved indoors.

Bicycle Shop

A bicycle shop on North Main St.

Wall by Alleghany St.

This house seems perched high above Alleghany St. with the wall holding it up. Is it possible that the house had more side yard before Alleghany St. was built? Or did the homeowner want a level side yard and so built the wall?

Buildings in the news today

The collapse of the Blacksburg High School gym roof in February has changed the school life of many students. The high school students will be going to school in the Blacksburg Middle School. The middle school students will go to renovated former Christiansburg Middle School.

Several pieces of art are on the front lawn of a house on North Main St.

The Price House is one of the historic homes. Its garden is cared for by an organization of skilled volunteers.

Theatre 101

Theatre 101 at Virginia Tech. The star of the show is coming out of the door. When I took the photo, I thought it was her and the man on the sidewalk is applauding her.
