Working on mural

The mural in the alley between Main St. and Draper Rd. is growing.  The artist was working on it today.

Horse barn

Though it might seem a horse barn is rural, this one is only a few blocks from Main St.

Quiet Main St.

This view of downtown has only two individuals visible.  It was a fluke.  Now the sidewalks are filled with people at all hours.

Seems a nice way to mark a deadend road.

The homes in this section, Airport Acres, may have been built in the 1950s.  This one is getting a new look.

The Blacksburg Golf course is holding a tournament.

Moving in

Blacksburg changed yesterday.  Today there are many more young individuals who moved into the residence halls of Virginia Tech.  The atmosphere changed.

Welcome signs

The University students are returning and many places are glad to have them back.  Me, too.

Airport Acres

There is a section called Airport Acres.  There are three streets with homes that perhaps were built in the 1950s.  It is a desirable neighborhood.

Perhaps in another era this gate opened to a path that lead to the side door of a home.

For Rent

This building has housed several businesses through the decades.  But it has been "for rent" for a long time now.

There is an alley from Main St. past a restaurant, to a parking lot, to Draper Road.  This mural is near the Main St. side.

Someone must have a research project that includes data being collected in this section of Stroubles Creek.

It is very quiet in Blacksburg.  It is the time before classes begin at Montgomery County Public Schools and the universities, Virginia Tech, Radford University, New River Community College and others

Outdoor dining at a corner of Main St. and College Ave. could be a prime location when the arts district promenade is finished.

New Platform

The view from the road to Mountain Lake hotel is spectacular.  Someone has build a parking lot and a viewing platform giving us a panoramic view.  There was no sign as to who built the platform yet.  I hope someone gets credit.
