 an historic site, Smithfield Plantation also has displays to explain different needs for fencing. 

 Blacksburg observed the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War, the War Between the States, with a camping re-enactment, a historical display, and flag display.  Music of the Civil War era was a wonderful part of the observance at Smithfield Plantation.

Preston Cemetery

The Preston family influenced the development of Virginia as well as Blacksburg. The family lived at Smithfield Plantation at least by 1782. It included several governors and other officials.
