Spring football

 Blacksburg has many events this weekend including football.

 Virginia Tech won the game.  It was celebrated as Military Appreciation day and the Corps of cadets alumni marched on to the field with the current students.

Football Team alumni also had a reunion.

From the past

 True, the game is about to start at Lane Stadium and I am not there.  Night games are too late for me these days.....but I used to enjoy them.  This is from the past but it will look a lot like this now.

 True, no fans were in Lane Stadium today, but there was a football game--Tech lost to Miami.

Always an exciting day in town when there is a home football game.  This was early in the game.

Highty Tighties

Virginia Tech's band, the Highty Tighties, played the national anthem as the field was filled with members of the Corps of Cadets.

It was a fun-filled afternoon at Lane Stadium.

However, it is not a home game.  But the cannon will be at the game and will be fired whenever Tech scores.

Research

Virginia Tech is the leader in research on sports helmet safety.  The work was discussed at a meeting at which we got to see the sensors inside this football helmet.
