Virginia Tech's entry in the Solar Decathlon Europe won overall first place. The competition was in Madrid. The entry, LumenHaus was displayed here last August. Its website is:
Traffic on Main St. will be changed for a while. Yesterday, two lanes were closed, moving two-way traffic to the other side. And the extra part of Main St. is again closed. One feels sorry for the businesses there.
Marvelous actresses portrayed the Delany sisters in the play "Having Our Say." It was Smithfield Plantation's production for Juneteenth and was staged on the lawn at the historic home.
Panjammers is a steel drum band with a sound that is perfect for the Hahn Horticulture Garden Tropical Paradise Gala. The rain kept the band under its tent and the audience under another tent.
This morning, a piece of art on Main St. was moved. The movers told me where it was going and I will look for it there. There is a photo of it in place Jan. 30, 2009 in the Blacksburg Daily Photo posts.
Many in the community have been following reports about the fate of this sycamore tree which has been on Henderson Lawn since the 1880s. It is suffering from a fungal disease and, for safety reason, will be removed.
